Lemming.

.
Delusion allows happiness.

True understanding about yourself and your life hand in hand with the understanding of those around you and the reality of the world makes it impossible to live in the culturally deemed and idolized sense of happiness.

"Aren't you an actor?"
"Aren't we all my dear...?"

Find one minute of your day when you are not playing a part.
be it for the people around you, their opinions, their judgments, their acceptance and approval
or be it for your own opinion of who it is you think you want to be.

How often are we actually true to ourselves?

"What do you like...... honestly...what do YOU like..."

If you were alone on a deserted island...nobody around, would you actually live for yourself? Or would you still be obsessing (remember nobody is around) with making sure when you get off the island you'll still be someone people are impressed with?

Did you build that raft just to survive... or so that you could show the world how resourceful you are? A little of both?

Survive you say? JUST to survive?

The thought of who might recognize this as a great accomplishment never ran through your head? "Oh I wish _______ could see this."

I know I would have thought that....hell i would have ridden that damn raft right to their front door if it meant they'd acknowledge it.

WHY DO WE DO THIS??

Why do we live endlessly to impress others?
Why have we lost ourselves to the societal expectations we place on each other?

We're all to blame. And we're all lemmings.
We would follow each other off of a cliff if it meant approval.

Don't lie to yourself and say you're enlightened. Not many are.

We are naively happy and trapped in the delusion that this act is what makes life worth living.

WHO ARE YOU?
WHAT DO YOU LIKE?
WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM LIFE?

If you can answer that without acting....good for you.
You're leaps and bounds ahead of the world.

Forgive My Fear.

I stumbled upon this poem the other day, and felt instantly connected with the author's words.
It's amazing how someone else's words can strike within you, to where you can relate to what they are saying.

Forgive My Fear
Ryan Chokureva

I walk on space,
On air so thin
I fear to fall.

Dear God forgive me
For my fear to love
For being so small
In a world so big
Forgive me for not wanting pain
For seeing it first before joy

I know I shouldn’t look first,
At how easily I bruise
Or harden my shell to outside touch,
Or hide within my self,
Or stare with dead eyes

Forgive my fear
Of reaching out over empty spaces,
For taking all the love you give
And giving nothing in turn

When next I shy, nudge me to try
When next I sigh, nudge me to smile
When next love needs, steady my feet
That I may be here,
To brave my fear.

2009.

I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower
Makes you talk a little lower
about the things you could not show her
And its been a long december and theres reason to believe
Maybe this year will be better than the last.

I cant remember all the times I tried to tell my myself
To hold on to these moments as they pass
